President Donald Trump has been sounding off on progressive members of Congress for almost two weeks, whipping his supporters into a frenzy last week at a North Carolina rally in which a “Send her back” chant broke out about U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.).

This week, Trump aimed his insults at U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Detroit) at a youth conference for Turning Point USA, a Trump-supporting group that the Daily Beast has reported is “rife with racism” and possibly illegal campaign activity.

The president called Tlaib “vicious” and “a crazed lunatic.”

“There’s no way she stands for the values of the people of Michigan,” he said.

For her part, Tlaib has stressed she’s working on issues while the president lobs rhetorical bombs, like voting for legislation shoring up union pensions. She has reiterated her call several times that Trump should be impeached.

Meanwhile, the liberal group Progress Michigan released a video praising Tlaib that features Branden Snyder, executive director of Good Jobs Now; Danielle Atkinson, founding director of Mothering Justice; and author and activist Nkenge Browner.

“Rashida Tlaib has been on the front lines of fights in her community for years. She is the real deal and respected on both sides of the aisle,” said Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan. “While Donald Trump blows bigoted hot air, Rashida uses every breath she has to work for the people of her district and her state.”
