The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) reported Tuesday that 63,870 Michiganders have tested positive for COVID-19 and 5,947 have died from the virus — an additional 373 cases and 32 deaths since Monday.
At least 107 cases are from individuals who visited Harper’s Restaurant and Brew Pub in East Lansing between June 12 and 20. The Ingham County Health Department has advised anyone at the bar during that time frame to quarantine for 14 days and get tested. The department has restricted restaurants to no more than 75 patrons as a result of the outbreak.
DHHS also notes that an additional 6,858 Michiganders have been identified as “probable” cases for COVID-19, as well as 246 probable deaths. The department began tracking probable cases on April 5. Combining the state’s confirmed positive cases with probable cases brings the total up to 70,728 statewide cases and 6,193 deaths.
The virus has been detected in all but one of Michigan’s 83 counties. Ontonagon County in the Upper Peninsula has not reported any cases.
Michigan’s COVID-19 fatality rate is now at 9.3% statewide.
The first two cases of COVID-19 were reported in the state on March 10. Whitmer declared a state of emergency that day.
Johns Hopkins University reports that there are more than 10.3 million confirmed cases worldwide and 507,188 deaths. One-quarter of those are in the United States, where more than 2.6 million confirmed cases and 126,512 deaths have been recorded.
