U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, a Michigan native and former chair of the Michigan Republican Party, will make a return to the state next month.

The party announced on Friday that DeVos will be a speaker at the Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference in late September at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.

DeVos is a member of the West Michigan clan that donated $11 million during the 2018 cycle, mostly to GOP candidates and conservative causes. She joins U.S. Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) and U.S. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) as confirmed speakers for the event, which begins on Sept. 20.

“Betsy has dedicated her life to helping families across our nation, and we are tremendously honored to have her as our guest for the 2019 Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference,” Michigan GOP Chair Laura Cox said in a statement.
